J-Dorama (Dragon Zakura)

I'm in the middle of Tiger & Dragon (TBS, 2005), but suddenly I got Dragon Zakura (TBS, 2005), so I stopped Tiger & Dragon for a while and started with Dragon Zakura. I'm not finished yet with this but, I need to say something.

Here's a brief about Dragon Zakura from wiki.d-addict.

Synopsis
:

Sakuragi Kenji is a destitute lawyer and one-time member of a motorcyle gang trying to guide failing high school students with an average score of 36 into Japan's most prestigious educational institution, Tokyo University (Toudai).

"If you want to change your life, get into Toudai!"

For no other reason than Sakuragi's personal ambition, he has advertised his intention to produce 5 successful Toudai applicants from the students of a nearly bankrupt failure of a school.

"If you want to change your life, get into Toudai!" He will get them from this lowest of all schools into Japan's number one!!

Our protagonist, Sakuragi Kenji, played by Abe Hiroshi in his first role as a high school teacher, is a must see in this summer's new show. This third rate lawyer soon becomes the homeroom teacher for the special advanced class aiming for Toudai University entrance. Hasegawa Kyouko costars as english teacher and Sakuragi's opponent, and Yamashita Tomohisa from NEWS and Nagasawa Masami also appear in the role of students. This awaited original work and fascinating world view is brought to you from the popular serialized comic in Shuukan Morning (Kodansha) and has even been updated!

In addition to revealing essential test taking techniques for everyone who wants to know how to get into Toudai, Dragon Zakura will also teach the essentials of living one's life.~

Casts:
I watched this drama because it has Koike Teppei. And surprisingly it has YamaP and Nagasawa Masami (I just watched 'Touch'). Episode 1, this is almost like any other school drama, only that in DZ there's a special thing, especially for those who are still in school.. you can see a good tips for studying. That's something, I guess.
Anyway, the most irritating me is Mamako Ino, the English teacher, Hasegawa Kyoko. Oh gosh, I really can't stand her! She was too much here. She's in fact, made Ino looks so stupid, and I don't think she should. No chemistry she can create with other casts, with Sakuragi sensei nor with the students. I really fast forward whenever she appeared, unless where Sakuragi or the students involved. I never have a problem with her in 'Star no Koi' (FujiTV, 2001), nor in 'M no Higeki' (TBS, 2005). She's still a rookie in 2001 and in M no Higeki, she became evil woman and that's make sense, maybe. I saw her on Bistro SMAP in 2004 or 2005 I forgot, it's the year she released a photobook, and that's I saw her changed for the first time.
Well, this is the first time I saw an actress so irritating. Actually all teachers in Ryuuzan High School are irritating. I almost can't stand to continu watching, but Abe Hiroshi and other students casts hold me back.

*edited*

Ok, I'm finished with Dragon Zakura. I don't know whose to blame. I can see the main story, should be good.. but in some parts, it's being draggy or more like smooth connection from one to another. Thanks to the casts though, except Hasegawa Kyoko. She's or her character still annoying. Don't know about the manga, but here, she/Ino Mamoko really annoying. I can't see any reason she has to be there.

Anyway, I like the theme songs. Realize by Melody (watch/listen the song here) and 'don't know the title' by YamaP :D

Sun, July 22, 2007 (11:33pm EDT)

On Sunday, pop duo KinKi Kids held a concert at the Tokyo Dome to celebrate their 10th year since their first CD release.

In order to accommodate as many fans as possible, the group set up a small stage in the center of the field. The event drew a crowd of about 67,000 fans, making it the biggest concert ever held at the Dome. The previous record was set by Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi in 1992, with an audience of 65,000.

Tuesday~

After years observed, I have a conclusion that Tuesday is unlucky day, for me. Sooo many unlucky moments happened in this day, compared to other days. I won't mentioned it since most are really hurtful. Yeah, the unlucky moments can be a physically or mentally or both. Mostly happened like no reason, I mean I couldn't find any logical reason why I experienced the unlucky time.

Today is Tuesday. I swore this morning already. I hardly swear, but this time I can't help it. I don't understand at all why this bus conductor mad at me. Oh, it's just really weird! I felt like I want to cry. Thinking a happy thing and I can a bit calm. I hope that's all for today. No more please.

Just now, I searched on the net about Tuesday. Found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuesday . Look what I found. Let me quote;
"In the Greek world, Tuesday (the day of the week of the Fall of Constantinople) is considered an unlucky day. The same is true in the Spanish-speaking world, where a proverb runs En martes, ni te cases ni te embarques (On Tuesday, neither get married nor begin a journey). For both Greeks and Spanish-speakers, the 13th of the month is considered unlucky if it falls on Tuesday, instead of Friday."

So, I'm one of the Greek people, Tuesday is unlucky day for me too :P
I thought I should prepare on Tuesday that anything could happened, but I have to give it all to the Almighty. All happened on His permission. So, I can't be mad in the end. I have great things happened on Tuesday too, but compare to the unlucky moments, it lost. Still, I considered Tuesday is my unlucky day...

21th of July

#Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, the last book from Harry Potter series released. There's 2 versions for the cover, children version (on the left) and adult version (on the right).

I'm a bit confused which one I'd like to take, and I took the children version, like always^^ My friend said not suprised I choose that one :P

From Bloomsbury:
"Harry has been burdened with a dark, dangerous and seemingly impossible task: that of locating and destroying Voldemort's remaining Horcruxes. Never has Harry felt so alone, or faced a future so full of shadows. But Harry must somehow find within himself the strength to complete the task he has been given. He must leave the warmth, safety and companionship of The Burrow and follow without fear or hesitation the inexorable path laid out for him…

In this final, seventh instalment of the Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling unveils in spectacular fashion the answers to the many questions that have been so eagerly awaited. The spellbinding, richly woven narrative, which plunges, twists and turns at a breathtaking pace, confirms the author as a mistress of storytelling, whose books will be read, reread and read again."

Yeah, I'm really curious!

# Happy 10th Anniversary to KinKi Kids!!!
May you two always be together to create more music!^^

[Arc] Dubbing the Soap Stars

Updated July.20,2007 09:37 KST

Broadcasters are agonizing over the dubbing of popular U.S. drama series. Subtitling them is easy, but dubbing is essential to ensure a broader viewer base. But unlike the days of “Columbo” or “The X-Files”, many viewers today are familiar with the voices of the original cast down to the minor parts. Casting of the Korean voices has thus become a key to the success or failure of a foreign drama series. The hit series “Prison Break”, which already aired on cable, is now also being shown dubbed on terrestrial TV on weekend nights. The production crew say, "It's a fascinating series, but we hesitated for a considerable time over who should dub the lead character Michael Scofield." For instance, Scofield has a habit of inhaling while talking that ardent fans fondly remember. To reflect such traits in Korean can be a headache. Producer Bae Suk-hyeon says she therefore cast a lesser known voice talent for the role. "On the show's first day, I was so nervous to hear the Korean dialogue that I stopped my ears."

Meanwhile, cable channel XTM has dabbled in an experiment. It airs a dubbed version of the popular Japanese drama "Karei naru ichizoku" for its Thursday first run and a subtitled version for the Sunday rerun. An XTM staffer says, "Japanese dramas were popular even before the U.S. drama boom, with a huge fan base, but they have almost never been aired dubbed on Korean terrestrial TV. Our alternating method is designed for hardcore fans who may be reluctant to hear the dubbed Korean.” The drama's lead Takuya Kimura is dubbed by voice talent Gu Ja-hyeong, who says, "I thought it would be impossible to express Kimura's unique tone of voice in Korean when I first got the casting offer. I decided to give it a try with focus on conveying the character rather than the actor."

With the fourth installment aired so far, there is still lively debate on the XTM website. Some say the dubbing is killing Kimura's personality, while others say they can focus more on the storyline as they don’t need to read the subtitles.

I definitely won't see dubbed version for Kimura's.
