from Shindoi 20090909 - World Heritage, Kumano Kodo part 1

I love this episode as well as the other World Heritage episodes.
He went again with King Kong Nishino Akihiro.
They went to World Heritage "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range", Kumano Kodo (熊野古道). The site were named a World Heritage on July 7, 2004.
The site is at Wakayama province (I always remember Wakayama as hyde birthplace^^').

Let's follow them.

One of the famous places they're going to visit is The Kumano Sanzan, the Three Grand Shrines of Kumano: Kumano Hongu Taisha, Kumano Nachi Taisha and Kumano Hayatama Taisha

At first they went to Shishiiwa Onigajo. This is a place of natural scenic beauty whose unique land features were created by erosion of wave and wind on the quartz trachyte rock face. Onigajo is a stir-like cave having several steps, and Shishi-Iwa has the shape of lion whose name indicates so. This is a good cultural landscape pleasing many pilgrims as a popular venue along the Kumano Pilgrimage Route (source).

The detail of this lion rock-shape is amazing. From a far, I can see there's a form of an eye^^.

Shichirimihama.
It is a flat gravel seashore which has been used as part of the pilgrimage route. In the beginning, pilgrims walked the seashore, but since the plantation of black pine shelter wood in the beginning of 17th century, people walked inside the shelter wood. The magnificent scene spreads across 22km attracts people as the best scenic area of Kumano pilgrimage route, retains its good cultural landscape even today (source).

In the car, Nishino mentioned about things he put on his head on the two previous World Heritage episodes. He look forward to what is it in this episode, so they stopped by at the local store. There's one that suitable, but somehow it's not supposed to use as expected? I don't understand here^^'.
In the end, Nishino bought this:

Later on, ........ that has a shape like a shark head.

look at the eruption details..

I found out that there's so many coastal rocks formation to be seen in Wakayama. Beside the previous Shishiiwa, there's Ichimai-iwa, Hashigui-iwa, Umikongo rocks, Arafune coast, Shiofuki-iwa...

I don't get the explanation on this part. Thought it was the biggest tree but, the information I found on any official sites said the biggest is Nachi tree.

Our host sleepy^^'
