[News] Jeon Ji-hyun Cedes Advertising Power to Jang Dong-gun

Jeon Ji-hyun Cedes Advertising Power to Jang Dong-gun

Consumers no longer feel that Jeon Ji-hyun is the most bankable advertising model and instead name Jang Dong-gun. The finding is the result of a survey of 1,465 people in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province by brand consultancy Brand38 from March 5 until 15. The interviewees were asked to choose three stars they think are most appealing as commercial models. Jeon, who had always ranked top or second from the top in the biannual survey that started in 2003, fell to fifth place.

Jeon Ji-hyun and Jang Dong-gun

Jeon Ji-hyun out, Jang Dong-gun in

Jeon took the top spot five times and second place three times in a total of eight surveys by Brand38, beating out superstars like Lee Young-ae, Lee Hyo-lee, Kim Tae-hee, Song Hye-gyo and Lee Na-young. But in the latest survey Jeon surrendered her place to Jang Dong-gun, the last survey’s runner-up, and ended up in the fifth place.

From left: Lee Young-ae, Lee Hyo-lee, Kim Tae-hee, Song Hye-gyo and Lee Na-young
What the two stars have in common is that they have done nothing but appear in commercials for quite some time. So why is one falling and the other rising? “Jeon still has name value as the most bankable commercial model, but it seems consumers are getting tired of her eternal sexy image and so-called “mystery” which has meant she appears on hardly any TV programs except commercials,” Brand38 says. “By contrast, Jang has successfully changed his image through commercials from unapproachable aristocrat to guy next door.”

Where have all the pretty boys gone?

Comedian and TV presenter Yoo Jae-suk rose to second place from 15th in the previous survey. Other comedians like Park Myung-soo (17th) and No Hong-chul (31st) also rose. The three saw their popularity grow on MBC’s popular TV show “Infinite Challenge.”

From left: Yoo Jae-suk, Park Myung-soo, Lee Jun-ki Daniel Henney and No Hong-chul

The consultancy says appearance still matters when it comes to commercials, but it is getting less and less important. “Economic hardship and harsh realities throughout society seem to make comedians more appealing to consumers,” it explains. “In the previous survey in the first half of 2006, Lee Jun-ki -- the star of the film ‘The King and The Clown’ -- and Daniel Henney, who rose to stardom with MBC hit drama ‘My Name Is Kim Sam-soon,’ ranked near the top in fourth and 12th respectively, but they both fell below 50th this time. That shows that good-looking stars tend to experience a sudden rise and fall.”

Who is suitable for what?

The survey also focused on what type of advertising is suitable for which star according to his or her image. Jang Dong-gun, who is thought of as “handsome” and “gentlemanly,” was thought to be suitable for fashion and car advertising. Singer Rain, who is associated with “passion,” was judged to be perfect for telecom commercials, and “sexy” and “pretty” Jeon Ji-hyun and “sexy” and “attractive” Lee Hyo-lee were thought best suited to fashion advertising.

Politicians make it on the list

With a political season coming up with the presidential election, politicians, made their way into the list of the top 50. Former Seoul mayor Lee Myung-bak ranked 40th and former Grand National Party chairwoman Park Geun-hye 44th. Among businessmen, Samsung Group chairman Lee Kun-hee shared 40th place with the former mayor.

[Vid] Hyde with saxophone~!

Awwww I'm amaze! Sugoii! I just saw Awake concert last night, and *jrengggg* on the song I didn't like it much before - Ophelia-, hyde started the song with saxophone!! OMG it's really amazing. Recall it I can't stop grinning and so exciting. Ok here, I found it on YouTube by micoPunk.

Here's the full version of the song (thanks hakkyou)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePu6yTEiNxk&mode=related&search=

The song, Ophelia, is beautiful song actually. Just I don't know why I feel it sound dark. Now I see the song differently. Watching the concert, it sounds/looks different. I notice that it's like a Spanish song with the acoustic guitar played beautifully by ken; the smooth kicking drums by yuki, and of course tetsu's bass sound. The melody more near to it. I give hyde two thumbs up for this song.

Near the end, there's another suprise. On the song 'Stay Away', hyde didn't singing, but tetsu! On the second bait, it was ken!. Later I can guess, it would be yuki then. Yes, yuki sang, and hyde turn back to yuki's replaced yuki playing drums! *scream*

I'm getting admire hyde in his talent.

YouTube suspended many

YouTube getting faster doing it. Friends I knew was suspended.
Well, I'm and others the bad guy, aren't we?

[bits] Twinkle twinkle little star

I watched 'Wish upon a star' (Tsuyoshi Domoto) last night. Apparently it's based on a real story. About a young man named Ohira Takayuki who created a mini planetarium. Tsuyo did great as Takayuki. I shed a tears in the end. I love stars, I love sky and the universe. It's my obsession back then when I was in primary school.

Now I recall my childhood, collecting any pictures regarding the stars, the astronomy.

[Vid] Preview of SHINE (L'Arc~en~Ciel new song)

I've heard! Thanks to people at ARK BBs. I'll upload here later. It's a nice tune, nice song. The more I listen to it, the more I like it. I believe it's tetsu composed it. It's for opening song of anime 'Seirei no Moribito'. Here's from YouTube by yasushi4444.

[JDorama] Summer Snow, To Heart, & Wish Upon a Star

My friend load me with his dorama and movies since then. Summer Snow, Gakkou sensei, To Heart, Last Present, Wish upon a star (Hoshi ni Negai Wo). I do have Kindaichi (lake murder something). For sure, I'm in love with most of his roles^^. Natsuo (Summer Snow), Sentarou (Gakkou sensei), Tokieda Yuji (To Heart), Kenji (Last Present).. I haven't finished with Wish upon a star. I think Tsuyo acting is almost surpass Kimura Takuya? No? Hehehe I had no idea, but his roles touched me, just like Kimura did. I really impressed with his role in Summer Snow, To Heart and Last Present.

In Summer Snow, he portrayed a big brother (as busybody person) who run a bicycle shop. He really busybody and high talk too. Wow, I never thought he could be such person^^.

In To Heart, he portrayed a young boxer. The story tells about two person, Tokieda Yuji, the boxer and Miura Toko, the young girl. Though watching it made me hurt inside, but I love this drama as a whole. Made me hurt inside? Yes, it was. I don't know what happened, but when I saw movie/drama, a real scene in life that went not right on my mind, I will feel this kind of hurt in my heart. Feels like I the one who'd been hurt. It's weird, but it happened. Not all heart breaking thing that made me hurt, but I don't know, but it seems that it happened when I like the person/roles. It happened when I saw Summer Snow and To Heart. Am I really wierdo?? >_>

In Last Present, he was a comedian and also a husband of Miho Kanno^^. He's sooo sweet! I wanna be his wife too :P
Be a comedian is hard to do. Tsuyo can did it great. He may not that funny, but he knew what to do.

I watched 'Wish upon a star' last night. Oh I love this Tsuyo here! Apparently it's based on a real story. About a young man named Ohira Takayuki who created a mini planetarium. Tsuyo did great as Takayuki. Only that the real Takayuki was really tall^^. I shed a tears in the end. I love stars, I love sky and the universe. It's my obsession back then when I was in primary school. At first it was kind of boring, but in the middle, it's getting clear.

Related news from Japan-zone:
• In a related story, a ground-breaking collaboration between Fuji TV and Disney was announced yesterday. In a world first for Disney, they will jointly produce a live-action TV show with Fuji. "Hoshi ni Negai wo" (Wish Upon a Star) will air on August 26, and will star Domoto Tsuyoshi as Ohira Takayuki (35), the engineer who developed the Mega Star mobile planitarium for home use. Other names lined up for the project include Yuka (24), Osgugi Ren (53) and Japan's first astronaut, Mori Mamoru (57). The project has been 3 years in the making and a Fuji producer described it as like a fantasy version of the Touchstone movie "Pretty Woman." Disney gave Fuji permission to use any songs from its extensive lineup of animation soundtracks. Filming starts on June 27.

[Rev] (One) KinKi Concert

I watched KinKi foul de Anniversary (please correct me if I'm wrong) concert last weekend. Interesting. They both singing great on Live performance. I'm proud of them. I just notice one thing, there's no chemistry, no kyodai atmosphere between both. Nande?? I saw them in younger days and their kyodai looks lovely. They won't show it when they grew up? I don't want mind it, but it's disturbing to see. Like I saw Koichi many times tried to look at Tsuyo but Tsuyo seems never notice >_>

The audience. OMG, most are women and some men that are in mid 30s. I notice girlfans too, but really, mostly are mid 30s. So the concert didn't much crowded like SMAP concert. Not much people screamed. Well, most of KK songs are calm songs. Nevermind, I don't care about how are their fans.

Yesterday I'm searching for KinKi and found an interesting thing. I'm not sure whether she/he a Gackt/Laruku fans, but she/he mentioned about KinKi. Praised that Tsuyo has amazing voice, and that Koichi was good looking n__n So KK can make people notice of their existence. Why not? They are good.

---

Update from Musc Station site, from 'undecided' to 'Seventh Heaven' : http://www.tv-asahi.co.jp/music/contents/lineup/cur/index.html

Complete list on MS:
1. Masafumi Akikawa (Japanese tenor)
2. Otsuka Ai
3. Orange Range
4. Kanjani8
5. GLAY
6. Koda Kumi
7. SMAP
8. TOKIO
9. Dreams Come True
10. Fukuyama Masaharu
11. BoA
12. Morning Musume
13. L'Arc~en~Ciel

Look at those guests, interesting. SMAP, L'Arc~en~Ciel and Koda Kumi was appeared together lately. There's also Fukuyama Masaharu (I really like to see him), GLAY (I'd like to know their new song).

Masafumi Aikawa is Japanese tenor born in 1967. Good looking ;) I found his new song that will show later, on YouTube. Apparently it's taken from 'Our Music' show hosted by Kusanagi Tsuyoshi (SMAP).
Otsuka Ai is a young singer who sung 'Planetarium' the Hanadan 1 soundtrack.
Kanjani8 is one of JE group. I knew only Nikishido Ryo (from 1 Litre Of Tears) ^^
Tokio is a band under JE. Nagase Tomoya (Seoul, IWGP), Matsuoka Matsuhiro (Musashi), ? I only know two of them.
Dreams Come true. I like the vocalist (Yoshida Miwa) voice.
SMAP. *grin*
L'Arc~en~Ciel. *grin*
Orange Range. Used to said as rock band, but it's more hip hop band now. I only know one song, Kizuna that is really nice.
BoA. Korean singer that is also famous in Japan.
Fukuyama Masaharu. This single handsome guy is an actor and singer. He's soo good looking. Selected in rank#1 in most pooling :D

[KK] Something about KinKi makes me so sad today T_T

How can't I? I just read one news about Tsuyoshi leaving the stage, leaving Koichi alone without saying good bye to fans properly at this year concert, at Koichi's birthday, January 1 2007. Oh, I don't know what to say, really. No matter what happened, as a star, Tsu should aside any problem when he was at the stage, in front of the fans. That's it.
It was said that he made appologize to Koichi and the fans in front of public on January 3. If I already fans at that time, I would feel the appologize was not enough. Oh I'm really mad at him. But at least he said that KinKi Kids is he like the most. He realize that he's acting childish.
Koichi should punch him. I will feel relief if Koichi did it. Tsuyoshi should learn and not doing this again in the future.

When I read those news and comments, I realize something.. the fans of KinKi was split up! OMG, I didn't believe it. I might be wrong, but there's Tsuyoshi fans and Koichi fans, and I don't know how much is KinKi fans. I don't like this. Take a look at SMAP. When Goro did suspended after the accident in Concert period. The other members stick together support for Goro. I'm sure the fans must be mad at Goro, afraid of him being quit. But it didn't happened.
I also notice, that we among SMAP fans, called ourself as someone ichiban, not fans. So there is Nakai ichiban, Kimura ichiban, Goro ichiban, Tsuyoshi ichiban and Shingo ichiban. Among my friends, I didn't see anyone hate other members, though they bullied other certain ichiban's fans. But we all can accepted it. I myself only like one member.
What Tsuyoshi (KK) did, I'm sure will wide the unlike to him :( I wish the fans will hand in hand support KinKi (because I'm impressed with long lasting group like SMAP and L'Arc~en~Ciel (both for 15 years already!). I'd like to see more works of KinKi.

I might be wrong.

I'm still Tsuyoshi ichiban and I think I'll be KinKi Kids fan too, though I don't know how is Koichi yet. I like them as group. I will support them both and as a group, in making music. And I like to see them in brotherhood love.

[Vid]] Arashi at 24Hr JikanTV 2004

A clip from 2004's 24hr jikan tv where arashi hosted. this is a clip of Aiba Masaki reading a letter to Arashi members. His letters made the members shed tears, though Nino can hold it. Aiba mentioned that he appologize for his sickness that might trouble other members. But members said Aiba is too worried. It's so touching. In the end they sang 'Hero' and Aiba can't help but crying T_T

[Song] Songs! 歌! 노래! - Japanese

I love songs, I love music. I've listen to many kind and I can take some only. Pop, classic, R&B, Jazz, and Rock (recently^^). I'm new to Japanese and Korean songs. Before I only knew local and English songs. I used to listen more Korean songs, due to watching K-drama. But since I knew Kimura Takuya and his doramas then Japan doramas, I found Japanese more interesting. I really like their doramas. Then I found their music as well. The quality of Japanese singer/group mostly I found not better than Korean. It's my introduction to L'Arc~en~Ciel then I'd like to know more of other singers/music.

Here I'm going to share songs that I like (alphabetical order):
Gackt - Last Song (2003)
KinKi Kids - Harmony of December (2006)

L'Arc~en~Ciel - Jiyuu e no shotai (2004)
L'Arc~en~Ciel - Hitomi no Juunin (2004)
Mr. Children - Namo naki uta (1996)
SMAP - Dear Woman (2005)

KinKi Kids

Kyou wa.. I'm searching all KinKi Kids (with 3 K in big capital) works on YouTube. Sumimasen, I did it between my works. Can't help it. Actually I heard one song of KK long time ago, titled 'Hey! Minna Genki kai?'. They have something in their song, in their voices. I mean they are not like any other JJ group (SMAP mo^^). They did, they have nice voices and the way they sing, I can tell that they both really talented in music. I just found out that both can compose music too. Awesome isn't it? I have interest with Tsuyoshi Domoto (since I watched 'Summer Snow'). I said it before, he's not among those good-look type among JJ boys - well, I don't care about it though. But he seems different, funny and yasashii.
Here's their picture, Tsuyoshi is on the left.

Koichi Domoto (the other guy) - yes they have the same family name, but no related at all- is the handsome one. Fans called him the prince because his attitude and manner (this is interesting, I might search on him later^^).

Their voices seems alike to me. Just perhaps Tsuyoshi a bit more heavier. Maybe I have to check it again. They have a variety show called 'Domoto Brothers' and (I don't know yet since when) Gackt (solo singer, ex- vocalist of Malice Mizer) was regular guest in the show. This seems odd to me because in the show Gackt sit on the back. I mean he's a star himself, older than both Domoto brothers. So.. I'll check this later.

So far i've listen some songs:
Hey! Minna Genki Kai?
Solitude~真実のサヨナラ~

Harmony of December
Kokoro ni Yume wo Kimi ni wa Ai wo
Hakka Candy
Zenbu dakishimete
Yasashisa wo Mune ni Daite (Tsuyoshi solo part?)

la creme d'asie (this site has special place for KK fans)

That's it for now, time to go home..

[Movie] Letters from Iwo Jima, DVD Release

Letters from Iwo jima

The DVD will come out April 2007. Check the preorder here: CDJapan

I'd like to see the movie. I have a big hope that the movie will screen in my country or at least release in the VCD/DVD here. I'll just wait till it come.

[Dorama] JDorama I've watched

I just finished watching "Summer Snow"(2000) last night T_T (oh is this spoiler?)
Sa, it is sad. It is a touching story. I watched it without reading any synopsis, so I was really surprised by the ending. Tsuyoshi Dohmoto (KinKi Kids) did great job here. I saw him before in Kindaichi but it's not a challenge. This time, he's really good, really good in portraying Natsuo.
Before, I only thought him as the most not good looking/kawaii guy among Johnny's :D I wonder how he could be in (gomen gomen). Well, now i saw that he has something. I think I'd like to see more of his works.
There's Shun Oguri (Hanadan), Ryoko Hirosue, Tsubasa Imai (T&T) and Nakamura Shunsuke. Shun Oguri was so young. He's 17.

There's new thing I knew from this drama. Marine snow. Download here if you want to see marine snow/summer snow (Video courtesy of Michael Vecchione, NOAA Fisheries Systematics Lab at the National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution). Diving. I'd like to try it since long actually. New songs to listen to :D
l like the soundtracks. Summer snow by Sissel, watch here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW5u3h14N3A . The closing song, Natsuno Osama by KinKi Kids.

Here's a fanvid by toroemperoar. Don't watch it if you don't like spoiler.

[Vid] Hyde and Ken - Matthew Best Hit 2004

I found these clips at Youtube. It's hillarious! All Laruku fans must watch! Hyde wa.. I'm still surprised whenever I saw him on a variety show! I won't say this, but he's adorable indeed. I like when he's singing for karaoke, 'Julia ni heart break'. Apparently that's The Checkers's song (Vo. Fujii Fumiya). He sang it so energetic! Ken also.. this is the first time I heard him singing. Nice, his voice just like the elder generation sing (I'm praising here^). I saw some variety show where hyde-ken as the guests. Wonder with other partner.
Ok here's the clip, enjoy!

[SMAP] SMAPXSMAP

SMAPXSMAP is a famous variety show on FujiTV hosted by popular Japan group, SMAP. Aired on Monday 10pm.
http://www.fujitv.co.jp/smapsmap/index2.html

SMAP (Sport Music and Ansamble People) consist of Nakai Masahiro (34), Kimura Takuya (34), Inagaki Goro (33), Kusanagi Tsuyoshi (32), and Katori Shingo (30), five talento from Johnny's entertainment. The group exist for 15 years till now, the most popular group in Johnny's and Japan. Why? Each member is a talento that their names was famous.
The group did singing, dancing, comedy, everything. At first they did sing, but later they did comedy to get attention, and it worked. Each members can act, especially Kimura Takuya that beside act, he has the aura, kakkoi, well it's hard to describe. Most of his dramas got high rating, above 20%. And all famous. I mean it's been a talk when it was aired. I recommend all his dramas.
The rest of members have their own field of success. Nakai Masahiro is one of the famous host/MC. He's one of the higher tax payment. Kusanagi Tsuyoshi was Korean addicted. He can speak Korean fluently (he interviewed Jang Dong Gun and Won Bin before. That's why I knew him^^) and he has his own acting field, mostly movies. Katori Shingo (among the fans) as the youngest member and the biggest member. He's good at drawing. He was casted as lead actor in great drama/movie like as Kondo Isami in Shinsengumi, Ninja Hattori in Ninxnin movie, and Son Go Ku in Saiyuuki (Journey to the west).

I like this group. They didn't good at singing, but their songs unforgettable. They didn't looks handsome, but they looks really nice and friendly. Each of member has different personalities, 5 personalities. No one look alike. I wonder how they can be together for 15 years. That's how I admire them. We can learn something from from their works, from them.
Ok, enough for the introduction. Go to SMAPXSMAP.

SMAPXSMAP was divided into some segmen.
Bistro SMAP. Nakai as the host and the other 4 members as the chef. They pair in two and cook meal that is guest order. The guest will taste all meals and decide the winner. The winner will get a present such as a souvenir or a kiss.

Bistro Staff

Nakai as Host

Bistro Guests

The Menu

Oishii Reaction

Bistro Kiss

Bistro Gift I really love Bistro SMAP.

Comedy sketch. They can imitate some actors/talento, variety show, movie scene, dorama scene, a parodi.

Games. They do have games, but it's not just a game, sometimes they modified so it's more interesting. They have regular competition annually and in the end who lost the game will have a punishment, a batsu. The batsu itself is interesting.

Ending Talk. This segmen put near the end, before or after segmen 'Ending Song'. They have a short talk among themself or with the Ending song's guest.

Ending Song. They perform a song for the ending show. Sometimes they have a guest.

The plus point of SMAPXSMAP show is they can bring international artist as the guest. Michael Jackson, Richard Gere, Tobey McGuire, Will Smith, Madonna, Cameron Diaz, Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, Jang Dong Gun, Jackie Chan, and many more. So the show was seen by international audience too.

SMAPxSMAP started on 1996. I hope it still be continu till SMAP retire n__n

[B'day] Saeng-il Chukka Hamnida Jang Dong Gun!

Today (well, in my place) March 7 is Jang Dong Gun's tanjoubi^^

Tomorrow on March 8, he will have a birthday event in Budokan, Tokyo. The next two days, he'll visit Missha stores. Oh I wish I could go. But it's too expensive for me u_u

I like this picture. Don't you think they looks so cool?

In the site, there's announcement for the 2007 Tour. I had a dream, I can go to their concert one day...

[Dorama] JDorama I've watched

I'm currently watching 'Nodame Cantabile' (FujiTV, 2006) starring Tamaki Hiroshi, Ueno Juri, Eita, Naoto Takenaka. I'm just on episode 2. It's really interesting story. It said the story based on manga with the same title. I haven't read the manga, but the drama itself is so comical.

I'm in the middle of watching 'Stand Up!' too, but I paused because watching it need good mood. The good casts did not enough to made me 'up'. More over, other drama coming, so I choose the other :D Oh, the casts is Kazunari Ninomiya (Arashi), Yamashita Tomohisa (NewS), Hiroki Narimiya, Shun Oguri, and Tsukamoto Takashi.

I have 'Summer Snow' (Tsuyoshi Dohmoto, Ryoko Hirosue) in my waiting list.

Recently I finished 'Ikebukoro West Gate Park' (IWGP, 2000) starring Tomoya Nagase (Tokio), Yosuke Kubozuke, Ken Watanabe, Sato Ryuta, Yamashita Tomohisa (NewS), Ai Kato, Koyuki, Kenji Sakaguchi and others I dunno their names though i knew them. Yea, many actors/actress in it that I knew. And watching such drama is interesting. With most are casts are good actors then the drama would be good to watch.
IWGP story is interesting. I won't do any spoiler here, just the story is not.. well, not like what I thought. Many surprising scene!! uh is that a spoiler? Gomen. Well, that's it. I recommend it.

What do I found in this drama? uhmm.. oh, Ikebukuro West Gate Park. I saw the place in Hana Yori Dango (Hanadan) too, where Tsukushi got kidnapped. Add IWGP, I think it's a dangerous place. But I'd like to visit it when I go to Japan, someday. Public bath. So there's it, just like Korean. Don't they have their own bathroom in their home?

[News] Hikkie divorced her husband

Who doesn't know Utada 'Hikkie' Hikaru (24)? I also do like her music. Anyway, she recently divorced her husband, a music video/movie director (Casshern) Kazuaki Kiriya (34).
